Ep#56: A Dietitian with A Specialty in Endometriosis with Alexis Brooks

Are you one of these women who felt like your body is betraying you and you don’t know where to seek help? With so many options available today, how do you decide which doctor or clinic is right for you? Are you ready to find the one who can bring the difference in how women feel about their bodies and about their health as a whole?

This week’s Empower Your Pelvis Podcast, Dr. Amanda Fisher goes solo to interview Alexis Brooks. Alexis is the creator of Alexis Brooks Nutrition. She is a registered dietitian and endowarrior. After spending years dealing with debilitating and painful symptoms including migraines, bloating, heavy periods, pelvic pain, lightheadedness and more, she hit a wall. Searching for answers of why her body was acting the way it was and what she can do about it, led her down a lonely path. No doctor seemed to be able to offer her anything other than birth control, surgery, or a prescription to induce menopause at the ripe age of 30 or, have a baby. she then found a community of women, just like me who were searching for the same answers.

In this episode, Amanda and Alexis will be talking about women's health and wellness, with Alexis’s personal journey with PCOS and endometriosis, and how she was able to learn to manage her health and feel like herself again. They will also talk about what each condition is and how it can affect you, as well as some strategies for managing your symptoms.

They  will touch on such topics as:

  • How PCOS affects many women around the world and can cause infertility, and what can Pelvic Floor therapists help with that.
  • It's important that you speak with a doctor who specializes in women's health issues so they can help you figure out what's best for your body type (and your lifestyle).
  • What endometriosis is or could look like for some people.
  • The best ways to approach managing PCOS and/or endometriosis through diet and exercise.
  • The first step is learning about your body—what it needs and what makes it feel good.
  • It can be overwhelming to learn how to eat for your health, especially when you're dealing with PCOS or endometriosis. But the truth is that there are plenty of foods that can help you feel your best and improve your symptoms when you're managing these conditions.
